Was chilling out in the garden, when I heard a Blackbird singing close & loud, it then got closer – so I filmed it π

I am delighted & amazed at what I am discovering in the garden lately. Today I was pottering about & I could hear a munching / crunching sound coming from the gate.
At first I thought it may have been a Wasp, but I couldn’t see it. Then after looking the gate up & down I noticed a wee Bee in a crevice! π
A Fork-tailed Flower Bee (Anthophora furcata).

Yet another wet dayβ¦ I was looking out of the window & saw a reasonably large Black Slug, that’s when I got the idea for todays video (below) π

It has been great for Birdsong lately, hasn’t it? Since lockdown I have heard some great birds from the back garden πΆ
In my video I’ve labelled each birdsong / call ππ»

Most of the day was chilly & grey, but when there was a warm sunny spell, the Bees came out in force to feed on the Cranesbill Geraniums etc in the garden π π πΈ

Today I did try to get better footage of the House Sparrows, but they weren’t playing ball π
So when I noticed some interesting Black Garden Ant behaviour, I decided to focus on them instead today π π

For a couple of weeks, since the bottom part of the flowerbed was dug over, I have observed House Sparrows having sand / dust baths & I thought to myself, I must get footage of this!
My attempts failed, at first, because they either didn’t turn up or I had just missed them, or it was raining π
However, today I thought I would give it another go and within about 5 minutes into recording they showed up & I got footage! ππ»
I plan on getting closer & better footage very soon!
